Join us at Vino Market for a very special Collector’s Tasting featuring the wines of Catena Zapata, one of Argentina’s most important and influential wine estates. We’ll be joined by AnnMarie Sgori, Catena Fine Wine Specialist in the U.S., for a deep dive into the extraordinary high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza and the tiny differences in soil, elevation, climate, and site that can completely transform what ends up in your glass.
We’ll begin with Catena’s Alta Chardonnay, Alta Malbec, and Alta Cabernet Sauvignon before moving into some of the estate’s most coveted wines: Adrianna Vineyard White Bones Chardonnay, Nicolás Catena Zapata Red Blend, and Adrianna Vineyard River Malbec.
This is where the evening gets really fun. The Adrianna Vineyard has become one of the great laboratories for understanding Argentine terroir, and tasting these wines side by side gives us the chance to explore why particular parcels can produce wines with such distinct personalities—and why Catena’s top vineyards have helped change the way the wine world thinks about Argentina.
We’ll taste slowly, ask plenty of questions, and get wonderfully nerdy about altitude, limestone, alluvial soils, Malbec, Chardonnay, and the idea of Grand Cru-level terroir in the Andes.
